Human trafficking is a modern-day form of slavery involving the illegal trade of people for exploiation or commercial gain. The elements of human trafficking is "the act", "the means" and "the purpose". Trafficking humans is a voilation of human rights and a serious crime, however every year thousends of woman and children is taken or persuaded by traffickers in their one countries and abroad. There are people and organisations who use their recourses to help the victims and to stop those who commit the crime. UNODC (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime) is a global leader in the fight against illicit drugs and international crime. UNODC as guardian of the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (UNTOC) and the Protocols thereto, assists States in their efforts to implement the Protocol to Prevent, Supress and Punish Trafficking in Persons (Trafficking in Persons Protocol).
