History
It all started when Joseph Schenck and Darryl F. Zanuck left United
Artists over a stock dispute. They began merger talks with the management of
financially struggling Fox Film, then owned by Sidney Kent. Zanuck and Schenck got
support from Spyros Skouras, then the manager of the Fox West Coast Theatres,
who later became president of the new company. Even though the company was much
smaller than Fox, they were senior partners in the merge. The Twentieth
Century-Fox Film Corporation began trading on May 31, 1935. After the merge was
complete, the Vice President in Charge of Production, Zanuck, started to sign
young actors who would carry the corporation for many years. Among them were Betty
Grable, Carmen Miranda, Henry Fonda and Don Ameche. After World War 2, Fox
overtook RKO and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Hollywood’s biggest studios, and became
the third most profitable film studio. After the war, the corporation went
through a “dark period”. However, in 1953, they made a movie called The Robe, and it was a success.

Fox Film Entertainment is the “parent” of 20th Century Fox. (Wikipedia, 2015) The corporation is

Wilhelm Fuchs. Jim Gianopulos is the chairman of Fox Entertainment Group. Tom
Rothman and Jim Gianopulos shared this position until 2012 when Tom resigned. Fox
Film Entertainment is divided into four sections; filmed entertainment,
television broadcast networks, television stations and cable network
